Pedaling for a greener future

🌱In September 2023, KARL HUGO inaugurated its bicycle area. Since then, bike leasing has become a cornerstone of the company’s sustainable mobility policy. “Every kilometer traveled by bike instead of by car helps reducing CO₂ emissions,” says Bernd Hugo - CEO and CFO. “At KARL HUGO, commuting accounts for 3% of our carbon footprint.”

Thanks to the federal bike leasing system, employees can choose their bike within a defined budget, benefiting from a tax-advantaged scheme for both themselves and the company.

👉 Employees contribute 30-35% of the bike cost
👉 Each round-trip kilometer cycled is reimbursed at €0.36
👉 The more employees pedal, the more of the bike cost is covered... and potentially fully reimbursed!

♻️ Today, at KARL HUGO, nearly 1 in 5 employees regularly commutes by bike. This is good for the planet, for health, and for the wallet. “With the RAVeL nearby, our secure bike area with charging stations and changing rooms, everything is in place for stress-free cycling,” adds the CEO. “Our goal is to continue growing this momentum and reduce our carbon footprint together.”
