At KARL HUGO, young people learn their trade hands-on in machining and metal fabrication from day one. Sven Wiesen, Yann Leufgen and Maxime Heinen are at different stages of their apprenticeships, but they are united by their passion for working with metal and being part of a great team.

Sven (18) is the newest member of our team! Having previously worked as an agricultural machinery fitter, he discovered his interest in machining during our summer work experience programme. Just two weeks were enough to convince him that the work and the team were both a great fit. Now in his first year of training to become a CNC machinist, Sven particularly enjoys watching a raw piece of metal gradually take shape through turning and milling until it becomes a finished component. Great to have you on board, Sven!
Yann (18) is one step further along, currently in his second year of metal fabrication training at KARL HUGO. An avid cyclist in his spare time, Yann relishes the opportunity to work with steel in the workshop, particularly when it comes to welding.
He has quite something in common with Maxime Heinen (19), who is now in his third year of training in metal fabrication. Maxime particularly enjoys TIG welding and, in general, anything that involves a few sparks flying!
Three different personalities, three stages of training, and plenty of motivation! With every new task, our apprentices develop their skills, learn new techniques, and gain valuable experience from their colleagues, all in a friendly and supportive working environment.
Training with a future
Developing our own skilled workforce has long been part of the KARL HUGO philosophy. Today, 68% of our employees started their careers with us. Furthermore, 44% of our employees completed a dual vocational training programme at the ZAWM (Centre for Vocational Education and Training in East Belgium), 85% of whom completed their apprenticeships at KARL HUGO.With an average employee age of 38 and an average length of service of 13 years, our team combines young talent with years of professional experience.
We believe that technical expertise and a positive working environment are the foundations of long-term success.
We’re proud to support Sven, Yann and Maxime as they develop their skills, and we look forward to seeing where their careers take them!
